Tarnishing
Sterling Silver jewelry can be tarnished by exposure to some chemicals such as when swimming in a pool with chlorine in it. Chlorine will tarnish Sterling Silver. There is sometimes a chemical reaction with chlorine, salt water, oils, industrial smoke etc… but the tarnish usually does not hurt the finish of silver and can be polished off with a polishing cloth.
